As authorised by Punjab Government, the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar will conduct Common Entrance Test (C.E.T.) for admission to B.Ed. Course in the Colleges of Education (Govt., Govt. Aided, Private Self Financed Colleges) affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh; Punjabi University, Patiala and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar (List of colleges along with number of seats as per Annexure-I Page No. 2 to 10 and Annexure-II) on 17-07-2016, as per N.C.T.E. (National Council for Teacher Education) admission policy and the Punjab Government Notification No. 14/18/2011-3Edu1 dated 16-05-2016 (Annexure-I)

a) i) **Candidates with at least 50 % marks either in the Bachelor's Degree and/or in the Master's degree in Sciences/Social Sciences/ Humanities, Bachelor's in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification declared equivalent thereto, are eligible for admission to the programme.
ii) **The reservation in seats and relaxation in the qualifying marks in favour of the reserved categories shall be as per rules of the Govt. of Punjab. **The above norms are as per Para 3(2) of Appendix IV of N.C.T.E. Notification 2014.
Note-i):- Any candidate with less than 50% or less marks would not be eligible.
Note-ii):- There shall be a relaxation of 5 % marks in favor of SC/BC candidates. Candidate with less than 45% marks belonging to these categories shall not be eligible. Provided that such minimum qualifying marks shall not automatically entitle a candidate to get admission in an institution but only entitle the candidate concerned to fulfill other institutional criteria notified by the institution concerned or by the Government concerned from time to time to apply for admission.

b) Candidate must have studied the major subject of the subject combination for at least two years at Bachelor's level/Master's level. Honors students shall opt for major subject in which they have obtained Honors, the minor subject should have been studied at least for one year.

c) Candidates who have appeared for qualifying examination and whose results have not been declared may be provisionally allowed to apply for Common Entrance Test at their own risk and responsibility but they shall become eligible for counseling only after they have produced the evidence of having satisfied the above said conditions on the date of counselling.

d) Result late (RL)/Re-evaluation/Compartment cases, if their results are declared before final counseling, shall be considered subject to availability of seats only.

e) In case of candidates who have done Honors in languages such as Hindi, Punjabi and English, the major subject will be language. Such candidates would be allotted minor subject by the college on the basis of other subject option/s permissible to the candidate by the respective University and the availability of the same in the respective college.

(a) Result of the Entrance Test will be published by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and will be displayed on the university website .

(b) After the result of the Entrance Test is declared, all eligible candidates will fill the choices of Colleges and Major Subjects on the B.Ed. admission website.

(c) The admission to various Colleges of Education of the three Universities of Punjab will be done strictly as per the Punjab Government Notification (Annexure I) and the N.C.T.E. norms.

Criteria for Admission
1. The admission to B.Ed. Course in the colleges affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh, Punjabi University, Patiala and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar for the session 2016-17 shall be made on the basis of the relative merit of the candidates in the Entrance Test, subject to the availability of seats in a particular subject combination and such reservations as prescribed in the Rules of Punjab Government Notification No. 14/18/2011-3Edu1 dated 16-05-2016.

2. The candidates are required to fill the choices of colleges and Major Subjects on the prescribed proforma on the B.Ed. admission website. He/she will be admitted to the college on merit obtained based on subject category-wise, provided he/she fulfils the requisite eligibility conditions.

Note : No one who is already in employment (whole time or part time whether in honorary capacity or paid) shall be admitted to B.Ed. Course in a College of Education without taking leave from the employer/Institution/office etc. from the date of commencement of the academic session till the completion of practical skill in teaching examination.


a) Admission to the seats under 15% (All India) quota will be done as per Reservation Policy of the Central Govt.

b) When two or more candidates have secured equal marks in the Common Entrance Test their inter-se merit for admission will be decided on the following criteria in order of preference:-

(i) Candidate with higher percentage of marks in qualifying degree.
(ii) Candidate older in age.

a) The duration of the course of the degree of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) shall be two years.
b) The examination for I and II semesters in first year and III and IV semesters in second year shall be held at such place or places and on such dates as may be fixed by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.
c) The schedule of dates fixed for B.Ed. examination shall be notified by the Registrar to the Principals of all the affiliated colleges.


The candidates shall deposit half of the first semester fee at the time of admission with the college in which they are admitted and remaining fee of the semester in the month of September. The second semester fee will be collected at the start of second semester.
All fees and dues must be paid according to the schedule given by the office, failing which fine of Rs. 50/- per day will be charged and the name of defaulters may be struck off from the college rolls. If the candidates leaves the course after the stipulated time to admission, fees will be charged for whole course.


1. To provide financial support to meritorious and deserving students, scholarships will be awarded as follow:

  • a) Scholarship of Rs. 2000/- will be awarded to the student(s) who achieved 65-70% marks in Graduation/ Post-Graduation Annual Examination.

  • b) Scholarship of Rs. 3000/- will be awarded to the student(s) who achieved 70-75% or more marks in Graduation/ Post-Graduation Annual Examinations.

  • c) Scholarship of Rs. 2100/- will be awarded to the student(s) who achieve 80% or more marks in B.Ed. Examination, 2017.
