Annual Planning Meeting
  Annual Planning Meeting is the annual feature of the institution which is organized before the beginning of the session, the main objectives of which are :    
  • To frame the broad policy of the college for the new session.
  • To finalize academic and co-curricular activities calendar for the session.
  • To formulate the various committees for the upcoming session.
  • To discuss various issues like time-table, work load and problems related to teachers’ academic growth, administration, infrastructure and students dealing etc.
  • To think over the development and extension activities for the coming session.
  The Annual Planning Meeting generally lasts for two days and consists of various sessions full of discussions and interactions between the staff council and the management.    
  House System
  The students from all the sections are divided into three houses:    
  • Ganga House
  • Yamuna House
  • Saraswati House
  • Godavari House
  The purpose of the house system is :    
  • To provide opportunities to the students for self expression.
  • To inculcate leadership qualities among students.
  • To motivate students to shoulder responsibilities.
  • To understand the concept of team spirit.
  Each house functions under the charge of a team of teachers one of which acts as the house convener. Each house under the leadership of its Captain and Vice-captain remains on duty for one week in a month.    
  Main duties and responsibilities of house on duty
  • To organize at least one inter-house/college/inter-college competition.
  • To organize and conduct the morning assembly every day.
  • To prepare the wall magazine for the week.
  • To organize various functions, seminars and extension lectures.
  • To maintain discipline on the campus.
  • To check late comers and students without uniform.
  • To assist in maintaining cleanliness of the campus.
  The house in-charges keep a record of activities organized/conducted by their house during its tenure and also keep the record of participation and performance of their students. The best house is declared on the basis of participation and achievements of students in various co-curricular activities and academic performance of its members.    

Tutorial Groups
To provide intimate personal contact with teachers, each student is assigned a tutor whose duty is to guide and remove the personal and academic difficulties of their respective wards. All the students are divided into tutorial groups of about 15 students each. The tutorial period is an integral part of the time-table. Along with the intimate interaction between students and teachers, this period will also provide an opportunity to each student to equip herself with necessary teaching skills of chalk board writing, preparing teaching aids etc.

Morning Assembly
Morning Assembly as a means of moral and spiritual development is the daily feature of the working of the institution. The main activities of the morning assembly for the first five days are:  
  • Reciting Gayatri Mantra
  • House Prayer
  • Pledge by students
  • Thought of the Day by students
  • News by students
  • National Anthem /National Song
  • Important announcements, whenever required, are made during the morning assembly. Attendance in morning assembly is compulsory for all the students.
  • Special morning assembly based on the weekly theme is conducted every Saturday.
Multi Dimensional Period
For the development of various skills that lead pupil-teachers to gain proficiency in technology, lesson planning writing, specially EBO, PK Testing, BB work etc. methodology classes are held. House meetings to plan for the coming week and Saturday special activities are also part of this period. Yoga classes and tutorials are also held during this multi dimensional period.

Yoga and Personality Development Classes
For the physical, mental and moral wellbeing of students, provision of Yoga and Personality Development classes has been made in the college time-table. Both activities are undertaken under the expert guidance.

College Magazine
The college magazine ‘SANKALP’ is published every year to provide opportunity to the budding writers to exercise and display their creativity. The magazine consists of Hindi, English, Punjabi and College News Sections. The selection of the student editors for each section is made on the basis of written test followed by the interview.

Division of Syllabus into Monthly Units
The syllabus is divided into monthly units prior to the beginning of the session by the subject experts keeping in view the number of teaching days available and the time devoted to organize the curricular activities systematically.

Monthly and Daily Planning
By keeping in mind the monthly units of the syllabus, the teachers concerned prepare monthly and daily plan in the teacher’s diary consisting of topics to be covered during a particular week. After the month, points actually covered are also mentioned.

Students’ Seminars
Students’ seminar in all papers are held side by side during the whole session to develop confidence among the students and to acquaint them with the preparation of seminar papers. Topics are allotted from the full syllabus, hence providing an opportunity to revise the complete syllabus. The participation in seminars is compulsory for all the students.

Experimental Administration and Teaching by Pupil Teachers
During the ending days of the session, pupil teachers are given an opportunity to run the institution independently in order to provide them first hand experience of working of an educational institution. The Principal and the teachers for the day are selected from the students after going through the process of screening and interview.

Education Olympiad
To equip our students with the ability of attempting the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) sucussfully, we organize education Olympiad at the end of the session, in which quiz is conducted based on the syllabus meant for TET. The winners are awarded the cash prize and all the students are given guidance and motivation to prepare themselves fully for the TET.

Youth Leadership Camp
With an aim of developing leadership qualities among our students, Youth leadership camp is organized. The camp instills the social values of sharing, mutual co-operation, brotherhood and independent living among the students.

Comprehensive Test
As a rehearsal of semester theory examination, students will be given an opportunity to appear in comprehensive house test modeled on university examination. The main motive of this test is to develop necessary skills, speed, accuracy and time management technique during examination.

Remedial Teaching
By careful analysis of the students’ performance in the examination and diagnosing the areas of difficulty, remedial teaching is providing to the students. Necessary guidance is given to the students which helps them to overcome their problems. Remedial Teaching is not revising the topics repeatedly, the problem relating to different subject and concerned topics are taken into consideration and clarified by the concerned teacher. Students are given tips for the better attempt in annual examination.

N.S.S. Unit
The college National Service Scheme unit operating under the guidance of expert teacher In-charge organizes N.S.S. camp from time to time to inculcate in the students the spirit of service to the community.

Information and Guidance Cell
The college is equipped with well furnished computer lab providing free internet facility to staff members and the students.

Placement Services
The college also provides placement services to worthy students. College is in contact with various reputed schools. So, whenever there is vacancy in some school, same is offered to the students.

Community Work
Community plays a significant role in developing and modification of the behaviour of the students. Being the integral part of the society, there is need to organize various programmes which may develop mutual cooperation and understanding between school/college and community. In Kamla Nehru College of Education, students are trained to develop healthy relationships among themselves and with the community. Community lunch is organized in the college campus which enhances mutual love and sharing. Students are taken to community visit which includes visiting old age home, apahajghar or an industry for gathering first hand experience. Community awareness rally is also undertaken which highlights the burning issues of the day and awaken the general public.

Book Bank
A book bank has been established in the college to provide free access of the books to the needy and meritorious students of the college and neighborhood for the whole session. The book bank will function as a co-operative enterprise of students, teachers and community members with their donation of old or new books.

Minor Research Projects by Teachers
For the professional growth of the teachers and to carry out research in the field of education for the benefit of the students, the teachers are allotted different minor research projects in groups which are undertaken and implemented during the session. For this purpose, the teachers are given orientation in action research and statistical techniques.

Alumni Association
n order to have life long relationship with its students and to provide opportunities for them to interact with the institution and their fellow students, the college in collaboration with its old students has started an Alumni Association, the main functions of which are:

  • To carry out correspondence with the Alumni.
  • To organize get to gather-cum-cultural meet at the time of college convocation.
  • To provide them necessary educational and vocational information.
Alumni Directory
The Alumni Directory is published every year which enables the alumni to have immediate contact with any of their class fellows sitting any where in the world. It binds the alumni with one another as well as with Kamla Nehru Family.

Four clubs namely a) Language Club, b) Social Science Club, c) Science Club and d) Eco Club function in the college. The clubs undertake various activities related to their particular fields like essay writing competition, handwriting competition, poem recitation, quiz, vocabulary test, cultural and heritage programmes, environment day etc. The clubs also present a variety of articles and information on the display boards allocated to each one of them separately.

Hindi Parishad
Under the guidance of subject teacher, Hindi Parishad carries out the activities to promote the importance of the National Language. Efforts are made to bring into limelight the command and expression of talented students over the language.

Punjabi Sahit Sabha
Punjabi Sahit Sabha targets at revealing the sweetness and richness of our mother tongue. Our capable and expert teachers give a motivating push to the students to present their ideas and thoughts in their mother tongue with command and ease.

Women Grievances & Redressal Cell
To cater to the problems and grievances of women students and staff members in the college, Women Grievances & Redressal Cell has been established. Friendly and expertise sessions are conducted to pinpoint the problems, to adopt the line of action, to analyze its effects and to provide follow up services.

Moral Education
To inculcate moral and ethical values leading to the spiritual development of the students, various religious festivals, birth anniversaries of great personalities, debates/symposium and important days of national and international importance are celebrated in the college from time to time with a view to make them proud of Indian civilization and sanskriti.

Evaluation of Teachers by Students
To know the views of students about the administration, staff members and also about the teaching-learning environment and infrastructure facilities available in the college, a socio-metric study is conducted on the basis of which the best teachers for the session are chosen and necessary improvements are made in the administrative framework, teaching-learning process and infrastructure facilities.
